Marathonisi is a small island located in the gulf of Laganas, across the coast of Keri with rich vegetation. The island resembles a turtle in shape and is also called Turtle Island.

It can be reached by private boat or by one of the tour boats from Keri, Laganas or Agios Sostis.

Marathonisi is described as a little piece of heaven because it is under the protection of the National Marine Park and thus remains untouched. It is a nesting place for the endangered turtle Caretta Caretta. It has two beaches, one with sand and one with small pebbles. There are also some caves you can explore. The water has all the shades of blue and is crystal clear.

There are no shops on the island but there is usually a small boat that sells water, snacks, etc. You are only allowed to visit the island during daylight, as there are members of the national Marine Park that protect the nests during the night.
